It seems that, somehow, the OS software update is actually affecting hardware performance, but I’m not noticing any real difference to be honest. However, I do everything in the box and I need the portability. This issue is related to incompatibility between Pro Tools versions 2021.10 and older and Mac OS 12 Monterey, as the crashes occur with iZotope products that. I was just curious, as Monterey has actually drastically reduced heat and fan issues on the 16 inch Intel MBP while connected to an external monitor. General Compatibility Updates: VocalSynth 2 & Insight 2 Compatibility:Added ability to select VocalSynth 2 instances as IPC sources in the Insight 2 Spectrogram meter. I use PhoenixVerb for natural spaces on every mix. Any plugin not getting updated for M1 is a dead end. Monterey compatibility is a separate issue on top of that. Exponential Audio products, R2, R4, R2 Surround, PhoenixVerb, PhoenixVerb Surround, NIMBUS, and Excalibur are no longer available for sale on . iZotope says they won’t be updating any Exponential Audio plugins for M1. However, having splurged massively on my 16 inch MBP only two years ago, I’m in no position financially to upgrade for at least another 2 years yet. General Compatibility Updates: Support for installation on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) Version 2.0 released. iZotope, part of the Soundwide group, has announced the end of many of their Exponential Audio plugins. Yeah I understand that the new M1’s have solved the heat issues that have plagued 16 inch Intel MBP’s. you can crank Logic, in clamshell mode, with an external display, and the fans stay off and the laptop barely gets warm to the touch. These Intel chips just generate heat when used.īTW There are no heating issues on the M1s. To be honest, I’m not noticing much of a difference but I’m praying that Monterey might hold a glimmer of hope for my Logic heat issues.ĭo you mean on an Intel MBP? The heat is generated by the CPU and GPU, so while software optimisations can help, they can't cool the chips. Having taken the latest Monterey public beta for a spin, I can give a (cautious) heads up that the following workhorses appear to work without issue: Logic Pro (latest) Kontakt (latest) Spitfire Player (BBCSO, LABS, various 'originals') Also, NI Native Access and the Spitfire Installer seem to be functioning.
